Kajian Aspek Psikologi dalam Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di SMA Provinsi Kepulauan Riau

This study examines the role of psychological aspects in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at the high school level in the Riau Islands Province. The focus of the study includes motivation, emotions, interest, attention, perception, readiness to learn, and intelligence as determining factors for the success of IRE learning, as well as the role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and role models. The methods used were a literature review and qualitative case studies at several high schools in the Riau Islands (Karimun State High School 1, Tanjungpinang State High School 3, and Batam State High School 1) with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The findings indicate that integrating local wisdom into PAI instruction enhances the relevance of the material, intrinsic motivation, student participation, and the reinforcement of religious and cultural identity. Major constraints include restrictions on open-source materials, a lack of teacher training, and prohibitions on the use of psychologically appropriate technology. Research recommendations include the development of teaching materials based on local wisdom, periodic training for teachers on psychological approaches in PAI instruction, and collaboration between PAI teachers and guidance counselors to detect early signs of students’ psychological issues. The results of this study have implications for the development of a curriculum and educational policies that are more contextual and responsive to the psychosocial needs of students in maritime/border regions
